Location: Whitehorse, YT
Area: 34,000 sf
Client: The Salvation Army / Yukon Government
Contractor: NGC Builders Ltd.
This design/build project was developed with NGC Builders Ltd, for The Salvation Army, and the Yukon Government, Department of Health & Social Services. Awarded in the fall of 2015, this project required a condensed schedule and creative construction staging for winter construction.
The new building increased the capacity and diversity of facilities to provide a stronger, more holistic response to clients. The design includes an emergency shelter, with 25 beds, 20 transitional housing suites (for short term and chronically homeless clients), and drop-in centre with food service facilities. The building also has designated staff and administration areas, including a semi private outdoor area.
